Hi! I’m Linnell and welcome to my blog!
“What about this?” is a phrase I frequently catch myself saying, because I’m always coming up with ideas. Like the photo header above, which I took at a Chihuly glass exhibition, I wish this blog to be a bright and colorful record of my thoughts, ideas, and endeavors. Although I intend to post about some of my favorite topics – food and creative projects – I will also include posts on ways to help others, ways to reuse and recycle things, inspirational and humorous commentary, my photography, occasional gardening or fashion tips, and basically anything else that pops into my head! Pretty random stuff, but sorry that’s how my brain works.
What about me? Let me introduce myself. I’m a fifty-something-year-old woman, who is a wife, mother, community volunteer, former dental hygienist, former “style expert”, and aspiring entrepreneur.
I put my husband through graduate school more than three decades ago and today he is a successful professional. Hooray for him! Making the decision to be a full-time stay-at-home mom was easy, but raising three children was the hardest job I’ve ever had. I love my kids, but hooray, they are all out of the house now! I’m ready to embark on the next fifty years of my life. It’s my turn to discover all that I can be. Want to come along for the ride?
Linnell,
Kudos to you! It WOULD be you to explore and endorse a new means of communication. Love the blog and will enjoy reading along.
Linnell, you are awesome…you are what I “wanna be”.
You have impressed me with how you are sharing your thoughts
and creativities with others… and put a smile on everyone’s face.
I “applause” you… take a “bow”..!!
Thanks Auntie Ella. Maybe you should start a blog of your own! You can bookmark my blog (in which case you would need to check for new posts periodically) or add an RSS reader such as google reader at http://www.google.com/reader to your browser homepage. If you use igoogle as your homepage, add the google reader onto that and then subscribe to my blog, any new posts to my blog will show up on your home page automatically.

Linnell,
I was wracking (or racking?) my brain for a dish to take to an office party on Monday. Bingo! Quinoa shrimp salad. Perfect! Thanks, cuz. Keep up the great blogging. Fun to read. Here’s my tip for the week: make your own applesauce. Wash, peel, core apples. Rough chop and cook for 1 hour in a saucepan. Add nothing. Am I the only one allergic to raw apples? Naked applesauce is the next best thing.
Hi Laurie,
Think I’ll go up to Apple Hill and buy some fresh apples to try in your applesauce recipe. You’re allergic to raw apples? Maybe you’re allergic to the wax that’s sprayed on apples to make them look shiny or maybe pesticide residue? Thanks for the comment and recipe!

Hi Linnell,
I have been reading your blog ever since you posted a receipt for pork loin. The funny thing is that I didn’t realize this was YOUR blog! I really enjoy reading this and even more now since I know it’s yours. Way to go!
Thanks Kim! I’m glad you are enjoying my blog. When you have a chance go back and read some of my earlier posts. You might be able to relate to some of the parenting ones!
You have a beautiful site here, with many creative and inspiring tips–I’ll enjoy hearing what you have to say each week. Thank you for the like (I think we both share an appreciation for that pottery!).
Robin Jean Marie -Thanks for following What About This? And, yes, I do have a fondness for pottery, especially Polish and Italian!
Linnell, love your blog . I don’t know if you remember me , I was the PE instructor and instructional aide at Ridgeview for Kellie Whitlow . To this day I still recall the amazing class parties you orchestrated !! Even more amazing were your children . Congrats on the wedding , you looked beautiful .
Hi Vicki! Yes, of course I remember you! Thanks for the kind words!
Just wanted to say thanks for stopping by my blog and liking the “about” page. Hope you try some of the recipes and let me know how they turn out. Feel free to browse the archives, ask questions or make comments any time!
Teresa – Thanks for stopping by What About This! I love trying out new recipes and will certainly check out some of yours.
I love trying out new recipes too!
I think you will love the Beef Barbecups if you try them. Guys love them so they are great to serve a bunch of guys watching football. Kids love them too. It’s like having a bbq sandwich kind of. They are easy to make and so, so tasty!
Teresa, how do these taste after they’ve cooled down to room temperature. Thinking about making them for a party where they will be sitting out for awhile – if they last that long!
I had them out for a couple of hours and everyone still loved them, but obviously they are better if you can keep them warm in the oven or microwave them a few seconds.
